SLA appoints John A Brown as Director of Policy

Edinburgh, 28th March 2011. The Scottish Lifesciences Association is delighted to announce the appointment of John A Brown as it Director of Policy. The Scottish Lifesciences Association has made a solid start to it operations in Scotland. Following the announcement to set up a Scottish body in November 2010, the Association has successfully recruited a cross section of companies from the medical devices, diagnostics, biopharmaceutical and contract research organisations across Scotland.
Commenting, Dr John Brown (SLA Chairman) said, “I am delighted to welcome John A Brown to the SLA, John has provided much support and guidance under his role in the Scottish Government and will add to the capacity of the SLA to engage with the Scottish government and its agencies in the future. We are delighted with the great start the SLA has made and with the continued engagement with the Scottish government on key issues such as health the economy and education”.
One of the SLA’s priorities is to enrich the present level of mutually beneficial partnership working between the Scottish Government and the life sciences sector. The SLA will represent the Scottish Lifesciences Industry to the Scottish Government and its agencies, as well as to the UK Government and to Brussels.
Moving towards the May elections, the SLA will be focussed on delivering a Manifesto to the main parties over the coming weeks.
